Privacy Policy

English translation. The French version, shown in the app, prevails.
In short
- NFC Reader collects no data: no account, no server, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- What the app reads from your cards stays on your iPhone.
- You can erase everything at any time from within the app.
Publisher
NFC Reader is published by Matthieu JG, as an individual.
Contact: the address shown in the app (Réglages › Aide › Nous écrire).
Data read from your cards and tags
When you start a read and hold a card or tag near the iPhone, the app reads only data accessible without a secret key:
- the card or tag identifier and its technical characteristics;
- the NDEF content of a tag (text, link…);
- for a transit card: contracts (pass type, validity, zones), the latest validations (date, time, place, line) and, on a personalised card, the holder's name, date and place of birth.
The app never writes to a card. This data is processed only on your iPhone, solely to display it to you.
Read history
Each read is saved in the app's private storage on your iPhone, together with any names you give your cards. The file is encrypted by iOS while the device is locked. In the app's Settings you can lock the history with Face ID or the device passcode and hide the holder's name and birth date.
Retention: reads are kept until you delete them (one read, all reads of a card, or the whole history from Settings). Deleting the app deletes them all. Like any app data, the history may be included in the iPhone backups you have enabled (iCloud or computer) and then follows the rules of those backups.
App preferences (pro mode, lock…) are also stored on the iPhone.
What is shared
No data is sent to the publisher or to any third party: the app has no server and includes no analytics, advertising or tracking tool.
- Export: in pro mode you can export a read as JSON. The file is created only at your request and shared only with the recipient you pick in the iOS share sheet. It may contain personal data: check it before sending.
- Map: if you show a trip on the map, the map is provided by Apple Maps; Apple receives what it needs to display the area, under its own privacy policy.
- Crash reports: if you agreed in iOS settings to share analytics with developers, Apple may send the publisher anonymised crash reports. Manage this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Permissions
- NFC: to read cards and tags, only during a read you started.
- Face ID: to unlock the history, if you enable that option. The app only receives success or failure, never biometric data.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
As the data stays on your device under your sole control, the publisher holds none of it and cannot access, change or erase it. You exercise your rights of access, rectification and erasure directly in the app. For any question, write to the contact address above. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL, www.cnil.fr).
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above is updated and significant changes are mentioned in the app's release notes.
