Terms of Use

Last updated: October 8, 2026

English translation. The French version, shown in the app, prevails.

  1. Scope. These terms govern the use of NFC Reader, published by Matthieu JG as an individual. Contact: the address shown in the app (Réglages › Aide › Nous écrire). They supplement Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to NFC Reader. By using the app you accept them.
  2. The service. NFC Reader reads and displays the publicly accessible data of contactless cards and tags supported by iPhone. It is read-only: it never writes to a card, uses no secret key, and cannot change, top up or copy a card. It is free, with no account, ads or in-app purchases.
  3. Permitted use. You agree to read only cards and tags you hold or are authorised to read; not to read other people's cards without their knowledge or collect their data; not to use the information to defraud a transit network or bypass a security measure; and to comply with applicable laws, including data protection laws.
  4. Information shown. Decoding is based on public formats and may be incomplete or inaccurate depending on the network, issuer or card generation. Information is indicative only. It is not proof of anything (e.g. of a valid pass during an inspection) and does not replace information from the transit operator or card issuer.
  5. Independence and trademarks. NFC Reader is independent and not affiliated with Île-de-France Mobilités, RATP, SNCF, the Calypso Networks Association or any card issuer. Trademarks mentioned (including "Navigo", "Calypso", "MIFARE", "FeliCa") belong to their owners and are cited descriptively to indicate compatibility.
  6. Personal data. See the privacy policy. You are responsible for the data you choose to export and share.
  7. Intellectual property. The app, its code, interface and icon are protected. Third-party components keep their own licences (Settings › Licences et crédits): Barlow font (SIL Open Font License 1.1), Île-de-France Mobilités data (Open Database License 1.0 and Licence Ouverte 2.0) and the Navigo station table derived from the Metroflip project (GNU GPL v3), which can be exported from that screen.
  8. Availability. The app is provided as is. The publisher may change, suspend or discontinue it, with no obligation to provide updates. Features depend on cards and iPhone models (e.g. only the identifier of Mifare Classic cards can be read).
  9. Liability. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for the consequences of an incorrect or incomplete read, of the use made of the information shown, or of use contrary to these terms. Nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
  10. Changes. The publisher may change these terms; the date above is then updated and significant changes are mentioned in release notes. Continued use means acceptance.
  11. Governing law. French law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. Please contact the publisher first to seek an amicable solution.
